Adjustable Lyfjackets are manufactured in sizes relating to the vertical height of each book. Although it may not be easy for U.S. customers who use imperial measurements, the Lyfjackets are supplied in mm (metric) sizes.

The Lyfjackets can be used to fit to both softcover & hardcover books but they need to be assessed differently when establishing your needs.

SOFTCOVER BOOK SIZE SELECTION GUIDE

Measure the vertical height of your book.

If it is a softcover (paperback book) the exact measurement will correspond to the relevant lyfjacket.

e.g. : Vertical height of your standard paperback is 172mm, then order a 172 jacket.

If the vertical height of your book is 211mm, then (although a 210 may still fit very snugly) it is best to order a 212 to be on the safe side, and ensure the jacket will fit.

HARDCOVER BOOK SIZE SELECTION GUIDE

For a hardcover book, the thickness of the cloth or boards needs to be taken into consideration.

It isn't really that difficult once you get the hang of making the allowances to compensate:

e.g. : Vertical height of your hardcover book is 223mm, then allow an extra 2mm minimum to compensate.

Therefore, this example will need a 226 jacket. (223+ 2= 225 > nearest upwards is 226) 

A 224mm book would similarly need a 226 jacket.

If the book has very thick boards then it will be necessary to add 4mm so a 226mm vertical height will require a 230mm jacket.

WHAT DO I USE FOR VERY THICK SOFTCOVER OR HARDCOVER BOOKS?

Special jackets are manufactured that are "extended length".

These special longer jackets are made to suit books that are often small in overall size yet are incredibly thick.

Examples may include Bibles or Dictionaries and other similar "fat" books.

If normal (regular) Lyfjackets are ordered to fit such books, they will not extend around the depth of these books, so the longer length jackets will overcome this problem.

WHAT DO I USE FOR VERY TALL & NARROW HARDCOVER OR SOFTCOVER BOOKS?

Occasionally, a book may be tall & narrow, and will require a shorter jacket length. These are also manufactured, but are not available in such a wide range of sizes as the standard jackets. These may be added in the future.
